Minky vs faux fur:
What's the difference between minky and faux fur? Many use the terms synonymously. But the difference between minky (polyester) and faux fur (combination of acrylic and polyester, sometimes infused with wool or cotton) is in the backing: Minky has a thinner, more flexible backing and has more drape than most faux furs. Minky can be machine-washed with cold water (I air dry mine to keep it soft longer-minky does not like heat). Minky is most often used for blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals and other personal items.
